Request for Sponsors

Sharing the Point Africa events are free to all attendees. In the past, smaller events have drawn 50 attendees, while the larger ones attract several hundred participants. A special event on this tour is participation in SharePoint Saturday Nairobi, which is anticipated to draw over 300 attendees. We are requesting sponsorship to help defray the costs of travel and hotel for the international speakers, and to help fund the local events. There are three levels of sponsorship:

1. Regional Director
2. Local Sponsor

Each has a separate function.

Regional Director

The regional director is the liaison for the STP Team to the local events and sponsors within the region. They are responsible for selecting the speaking venue, coordinating food and beverage for attendees, managing the local sponsors to collect funds for the event, and managing the regional event itself. This director must be part of the existing SharePoint Community. They will be our host for the local cultural events such as the speaker dinner, helping select appropriate hotels and ground travel, and acting as local host. In addition, the regional manager will be the host for the event and act as announcer and ‘MC’ at the beginning and end of the day.

Cost

The regional director is not required to contribute funds, but is responsible for coordinating with the local sponsors to raise funds for all regional events.

Local Sponsor

Local sponsors are responsible for funding food, beverage, the speaking venue, and any other costs incurred by the event. Local sponsors coordinate a speaker dinner where the sponsors can meet the international speakers. This is not mandatory, but has proven to be the highlight of previous tours for developing and maintaining relationships with community oriented companies in the region.

Local Sponsor Benefits

• Sponsor table at the local event
• Acknowledgement at beginning and ending of event
• Dinner with international speakers
• Exposure to the entire SharePoint Community within that region
• Recognition as a regional community leader for Sharing the Point

Costs

Costs of local sponsorship vary per location. The local sponsor will work with the regional director to determine costs.
